THE HALIFAX INFIRMARY IS HOME TO THE ONLY EPILEPSY MONITORING UNIT AND COMPREHENSIVE EPILEPSY SURGERY PROGRAM EAST OF MONTREAL - PROVIDING A TRULY UNIQUE AND VARIED WORK ENVIRONMENT.
Under minimal direction and in collaboration with the manager, program coordinator, and medical directors, the Electroneurophysiology (ENP) Technologist is responsible for performing and evaluating
Electroencephalograph (EEG) recordings, video EEG Telemetry monitoring, Nerve Conduction Studies (EMG) and/or Somatosensory Evoked Potentials. The Technologist also maintains and cleans equipment used within the laboratory.
The Technologist facilitates communication among health care professionals (for example, biomedical engineering staff, physicians, nurses and unit clerks). Participates in the education and training of
student technologists, neurology residents and other medical personnel. Assist with the planning and implementation of research and clinical protocols.
About you
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

Grade 12 or equivalent required

Registration or eligibility with the Board of Registration of Electromyography Technologists of Canada (BRETC) and the Canadian Board of Registration of Electroencephalography Technologists (CBRET)

Completion of the EEG and EMG training programs required
-
If there are no qualified candidates for a Tech B position, consideration will be given to those who meet Tech A qualifications

Completion of either EEG or EMG training program required
-
Registration or eligibility with the Board of Registration of Electromyography Technologists of Canada (BRETC) and/or the Canadian Board of Registration of Electroencephalography Technologists (CBRET)
-
Proficient in all techniques required for electroneurophysiology testing

Knowledge of normal neurophysiology, anatomy and pathological states
-
Skilled in the recording and analysis of both surface and invasive EEG recording
-
Familiarity with Natus Neuroworks EEG recording system and/or the Mayo Clinic protocols for nerve conduction studies considered an asset

Able to work under minimal supervision
-
Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Responsibilities

We are a private outpatient clinic specializing in neuromuscular care seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented EMG Technologist to join our healthcare team. Our team is committed to providing the highest level of patient care, with brand new state-of-the-art equipment in a welcoming and cordial newly renovated office space at 100 Consilium Place in Scarborough. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and the ability to work effectively in a clinical environment.
Responsibilities

Perform high-quality nerve conduction study (NCS) testing including routine arm and leg studies and repetitive nerve stimulation.

Prepare patients for procedures, ensuring comfort and explaining the process.
-
Record and analyze test results, collaborating with the physician for accurate interpretation.
-
Recognize and troubleshoot artifacts.
-
Document test results accurately and maintain detailed patient records.
-
Maintain equipment and ensure proper function, reporting any issues as needed.
-
Stay current with advancements in EMG technology through ongoing education.
Requirements
-
Experience performing NCS in a clinical setting is preferred.
-
Registered EMG technician (BRETC certification) is preferred but not mandatory.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex procedures clearly.

Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
